The study states that 76 percent of ITDMs believe firmware attacks against printers pose a serious hazard. More than eight in ten (83 percent) IT leaders said firmware attacks against laptops and PCs now pose a substantial concern.
Further, according to HP Wolf security, when it comes to examining the security of firmware configuration, more than two-thirds of IT leaders (67 percent) think that the rise in home working has made it harder and more time-consuming to protect against, detect, and recover from firmware attacks. The ability to respond to endpoint firmware attacks is therefore a concern for 80% of IT leaders.
Device security is not often a top priority in the hardware selection process, despite the obvious threats that damaging firmware assaults provide to enterprises.
